l own a w reg 1.6 astra sxi and somone said that my tappets might be sticking anyone got any idears to clean them or........

The 1.6 sxi has hydraulic tappets and cannot be adjusted, if there is a top end noise try an engine flush with a full service.

You can rrule out the tappets as they are self adjusting. You need to explain what problem you have with the engine for better advice.

Hydraulic tappets, they cant be adjusted. You do not state the mileage, it could be that you need a good engine flush and oil change.

As the others have said, you have hydraulic tappets which adjust themselves. l guess the tappeting is louder when you start up first thing due to oil not adjusting the tappets quickly enough. l had a similar problem and my mechanic put an additive in the oil called upper cylinder lubricant designed to free up the movement of the tappets. It worked for my car.
